Cheap flights, island beaches, street food that ruins you for anywhere else — Thailand is the classic first international trip from India.

Why visit Thailand
Thailand is the destination most Indians cut their international teeth on, and for good reason. Flights are short and cheap, the food is extraordinary, and your rupee stretches a long way. A single trip can swing from temple-hopping in Bangkok to scuba diving off Koh Tao to a full-moon party on Koh Phangan.
The usual route pairs a couple of days in Bangkok with either the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi) or the Gulf islands (Samui, Tao, Phangan). Bangkok itself deserves more than a layover — the street food, rooftop bars and weekend markets are world class.
Best of all, recent visa-exemption rules let Indian passport holders enter without a pre-arranged visa for short stays, removing the one bit of friction that used to exist. Pack light, carry a power bank, and budget for one too many mango sticky rices.
Best time to visit Thailand from India
November to February — the cool, dry season with the most reliable beach weather.
March–May is very hot; the monsoon runs roughly June–October (cheaper, greener, wetter).
